What cookies are and why we use them
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to place on the device you are using. The next time you load a page, that file is sent back, which lets us recognise your browser, keep your session open and remember choices you have already made.
We also use methods that work in a similar way, including pixels, tags, local storage in your browser and software kits inside our mobile apps. Where this policy says cookies, it covers all of those methods.
We use cookies for four broad purposes: to make the site work and keep your account secure, to understand how our pages perform, to remember the settings you choose, and to measure the advertising we run. Only the cookies that are strictly necessary are set without asking you. Every other category needs your consent, which you give in the cookie notice that appears on your first visit and can change whenever you wish.
Cookies are not the same as the account records we hold about you. How we handle personal data, and the rights you have over it, are set out in our Privacy Policy.
The types of cookies we use
The cookie notice on the site groups cookies into the four categories below. You can accept or decline every category except the first, and you can change your decision later.
| Category | What it is for | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Signing in, payments, security and licensing checks | Always on |
| Performance and analytics | Totals on how pages and games lists are used | Only with your consent |
| Functionality | Remembering the preferences you set | Only with your consent |
| Marketing | Measuring campaigns and the adverts you are shown | Only with your consent |
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off in our cookie notice, because without them pages and payments would not work.
- keeping you signed in as you move between pages and protecting your session from being used by anyone else
- making sure a deposit or withdrawal started in the cashier completes on the correct account
- supporting the checks we must carry out as the holder of a gaming licence, including account verification and the prevention of fraud
- storing the cookie choices you have made, so we do not ask you on every visit
Performance and analytics cookies
These cookies tell us how the site is being used, so that we can fix problems and make pages easier to work through. The information is combined across many players and looked at in totals.
- counting visits and showing which pages and game lists are opened most often
- flagging pages that load slowly, return an error or fail on a particular browser
- showing where people stop part way through registration or a deposit, so the step can be improved
- comparing two versions of a page layout to see which one is clearer
We do not use analytics cookies to make decisions about an individual account.
Functionality cookies
These cookies remember the preferences you set, so the site behaves the way you left it.
- keeping your language, display and sound settings
- remembering your preferred sort order, filters or the games you opened recently
- noting that you have closed an on-site message or finished a walkthrough, so it does not appear again
Marketing cookies
These cookies help us measure the campaigns we run and decide what you are shown elsewhere online. They can record that a visit followed an advertisement, cap how often the same message is served, and show which campaigns lead to a registration.
How to manage cookies
You can control cookies in two places: our cookie notice, and the settings in the browser or device you use.
In the cookie notice on the site
When you first arrive you can accept all cookies, decline everything that is not strictly necessary, or open the settings and choose category by category. The notice can be opened again at any time from the cookie settings option in the footer, where you can also withdraw a consent you gave earlier. Withdrawing consent stops further cookies in that category being set; cookies already stored stay until you clear them in your browser.
In your browser or on your device
- Open the settings menu of your browser and find the privacy or security section.
- Choose whether to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete the cookies already stored.
- Set the browser to clear cookies each time you close it, if you prefer not to keep them.
- Use a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when the window is closed.
- On a mobile device, use the advertising and tracking controls in your system settings to limit marketing identifiers.
The steps differ between browsers and versions, so use the help pages of the browser you have installed. Your choices are stored per browser and per device, so you will need to set them again on a new device.
What happens if you block cookies
You are free to refuse or delete cookies, but parts of the site rely on them, and some features will not work properly without them.
- you may not be able to sign in, or you may be signed out as soon as you open a game
- a deposit or withdrawal may not complete, because the cashier cannot follow the steps you started
- language, filters and other preferences will reset on every visit
- we will not see where pages fail, which makes faults slower to find and fix
- you will still see advertising, but it is likely to be less relevant to you
How to reach us about cookies
If you have a question about this policy, want help changing your settings, or think a cookie is behaving in a way this page does not describe, contact our customer support team by e-mail at support@casinomegareel.co.uk or through the live chat on the site.
Please tell us which browser and device you are using and what you were doing at the time, so we can look into it without needing to come back to you for more detail. We aim to answer every message as quickly as we can.
We update this policy when the cookies we use change, and the date of the last change is shown at the top of the page. If a change affects a category you have consented to, we will ask you again in the cookie notice.
